Thesis Project || The Colorway

The Colorway is an adaptive reuse, mixed-use development created from the building shell of Crossroads Mall in Oklahoma City. It is more than a mall, a community, a shopping center, it’s an experience. The new facility focuses on community driven events, cultural enrichment, and the deepening of neighbor to neighbor relationships. Each corridor, hallway, and retailer within the walls is given a “colorway” which dictates the color scheme they’re able to use for their facade and business within. This creates visual interest and variety- drawing users to eat, shop, exercise, and live in each respetive space but also beaconing them into an immersive, one of a kind experience. The entrance corridors lead into smaller halls and passageways that create a push-pull effect, playing with the size and scale of the facility. The development is equipped with all the basic amenities needed for survival- creating a sustainable, walkable development. These amenities include a grocery store, several apartment complexes, a gym, coffee shops, restaurants, cafes, community gathering spaces, a business center, parks, recreation, and retail stores in addition to an accessible green roof that is equipped with a wildlife and sustainability observation deck. The Colorway is more than a mall-it’s an experience... Dine in Color, Live in Color, Shop in Color... The Colorway is Life in Color.
